Breakout Spaces in Workplace Design: Enhancing Mental and PhysicalWell-Being
Breakout areas in modern workplaces enhance employee well-being by supporting physical health, stress reduction, and social engagement. This study analyzes their key design elements biophilic integration, ergonomic features, and flexible layouts— — through literature review and case studies. Findings indicate that well-designed breakout spaces mitigate sedentary behavior, foster cognitive restoration, and facilitate informal collaboration. The study offers evidence-based recommendations for optimizing these spaces to align with evolving workplace needs and improve overall organizational efficiency.
